Art Genève 2026: a platform for living, sonic and performative art

Since its creation in 2012, Art Genève has established itself as one of the most important fairs for modern and contemporary art in French-speaking Switzerland, as well as a key event on the international art scene. The 2026 edition, held from 29 January to 1 February at Palexpo, brought together more than 80 international galleries, ambitious institutional projects and a rich programme embracing a wide range of contemporary artistic practices: painting, sculpture, video, design and immersive formats.

A programme that goes beyond traditional formats

Beyond gallery presentations, Art Genève offers curated pathways and special projects that broaden the visitor experience. These include innovative curatorial formats such as Art Genève / Sur-Mesure, dedicated to monumental and large-scale works, as well as Art Genève / Musique, a unique platform devoted to sound-based, performative and ephemeral works.

Art Genève / Musique: a space where sound becomes an artwork

Art Genève / Musique is an initiative dedicated to artistic projects exploring sound, performance and the ephemeral experience. The platform enables artists to conceive interdisciplinary works that transcend the boundaries between visual art, music and performance. Its curatorship is led by Augustin Maurs and Catherine Othenin-Girard, key figures behind this programme.

As part of the 2026 edition, Art Genève / Musique presented a series of performances, concerts and DJ sets, including contextual projects such as Before Demolition, which took place in unconventional venues like the Temple de la Servette in Geneva, with works exploring the body, voice and sound within the contemporary landscape.

A long-standing partnership with Piguet Galland

Since 2014, Piguet Galland & Cie SA has supported Art Genève / Musique, making this collaboration one of the event’s enduring cultural partnerships. This support has enabled the creation of more than 40 new works and projects in Geneva and beyond, enriching both the local and international art scenes.

Each year, during the fair, the bank also hosts an event within its own premises, offering visitors the opportunity to discover a selection of works from the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise art collection in an intimate setting, in the presence of the artists themselves.

This approach reflects Piguet Galland’s broader vision of promoting art in all its forms, by integrating it into professional and cultural environments and by supporting contemporary creation over the long term.

A vibrant artistic scene

The 2026 edition of Art Genève confirmed the vitality of an artistic scene open to experimentation and dialogue across disciplines. By integrating sound-based, performative and immersive projects, the fair highlights the extent to which contemporary art is developing through a transversal dynamic, where audience experience, diversity of formats and real-time creation play a central role.

Art Genève thus remains a platform where artists, curators, institutions and audiences come together,  a living space in which contemporary creation is presented, questioned and continually renewed.

Art Genève now draws its 2026 edition to a close. We look forward to seeing you again next year for a new edition.
