Nvidia targets USD 1 trillion in AI chip demand by 2027.
Nvidia has recently made headlines. Its CEO, Jensen Huang, expects demand for the group’s artificial intelligence chips to reach at least USD 1 trillion by 2027 — nearly double the projections previously mentioned for 2026.
This major announcement was analysed by Daniel Steck, Head of Equity Research at Piguet Galland, during his appearance on RTS's La Matinale.
Spectacular growth driven by the rise of artificial intelligence
This projection highlights the increasingly central role of Nvidia’s chips in the development of data centres, which lie at the heart of the artificial intelligence revolution. The rapid expansion of step‑by‑step AI models, alongside the emergence of autonomous agents capable of performing complex tasks without human intervention, is driving an unprecedented surge in computing power requirements.
“There is a real race for power, measured in gigawatts and computing capacity, among the major technology players”.
Hyperscalers at the centre of the computing power race
This race is being led by digital giants, the so‑called hyperscalers, such as Meta, Google, Microsoft and Amazon, all of which plan to increase their investments in artificial intelligence exponentially over the coming years.
“Most of these players source their solutions from Nvidia to achieve these objectives and fuel the race for computing power”.
