Au fil des pommes: when solidarity nourishes people and shared values

As part of Fondation Partage’s 20th anniversary, a simple yet deeply human initiative found its place at the heart of our premises: the exhibition of a giant apple from the artistic project "Au fil des pommes".

An initiative rooted in a mission of solidarity  

Fondation Partage is the food bank of the Canton of Geneva. Its work is built around three core missions:

• combating food insecurity,

• reducing food waste,

• supporting professional reintegration.

In 2024, the Foundation distributed the equivalent of 6.5 million meals, representing 3,273 tonnes of food, through more than 50 social institutions.

Far more than a symbol, this apple tells a story of sharing and social responsibility. It embodies our support for a solidarity-driven, sustainable organisation that is deeply rooted in the local community.  

A committed artwork by Heidi Lili

To bring this initiative to life, we chose a work by Heidi Lili, a Geneva‑based illustrator and art director from Carouge. Her creation features Cerise, her iconic character—a young girl in a red hat, always on the move, exploring the world with curiosity and kindness.

The heroine of the children’s books Les Voyages de Cerise , conceived, illustrated and self‑published by Heidi Lili, Cerise embodies benevolence, solidarity, the courage to move forward despite obstacles, and a deep connection to nature.

Through her work, Heidi Lili has developed a poetic universe where nature, mountains, oceans and landscapes intertwine, all guided by values of courage, solidarity and simplicity.

Her delicate, luminous watercolour illustrations give rise to stories that invite escape while remaining firmly rooted in reality. Across the published tales, Cerise travels the world, pursues her dreams, encounters animals and landscapes, helps those in need and conveys values of mutual support and community.

A figure that resonates strongly with the values upheld by Fondation Partage and with the spirit of this initiative. 

A simple gesture that carries meaning

This apple symbolises a tangible commitment: supporting a local initiative, raising awareness of food insecurity, and reminding us that small gestures can have a real impact.

With “Au fil des pommes ”, a simple act becomes meaningful, bringing together social engagement, artistic creation and local solidarity.
