Verbier–Savoleyres: a new chapter begins for the Piguet Galland Line

In Verbier, some disconnections do you good.

But this issue is also an opportunity to follow the progress of an emblematic project for the resort: the modernisation of the Verbier–Savoleyres connection and the construction of the future departure station of the Piguet Galland Line.

A new generation of lift infrastructure

After a first season of operation on the Planards–Savoleyres section, the project is now entering its final phase with the construction of the Les Esserts–Planards section.

This new installation will take the form of a hybrid lift system, combining cabins and chairs to provide greater comfort and smoother mobility, both in summer and winter. With almost 60 cabins and 30 chairs, the infrastructure will be able to transport up to 2,650 people per hour on the second section and 1,650 on the first.

Designed to support the resort's year-round development, the project will strengthen the connection between Verbier and Savoleyres for skiers, hikers and mountain bikers alike.

Turning a page in history

Summer 2026 also marks an emotional milestone.

After more than half a century of service, the iconic Giovanola cabins are preparing to make their final journeys. Commissioned in 1970, this legendary lift remains the last Giovanola installation still operating in Switzerland.

For many residents and visitors, these cabins evoke memories of skiing holidays, family moments and shared experiences with friends. They are part of Verbier's heritage and reflect the special bond between the resort and its infrastructure.
